This Privacy Policy describes how SnapSugar AI (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application (the “App”). By using SnapSugar AI, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
SnapSugar AI is an AI-powered diabetes management application that helps users track blood glucose readings, scan food and barcodes, find diabetes-friendly restaurants, and manage their medications.
The short versionWe collect only what we need to run the App, never sell your data, and let you delete it any time from Settings or by emailing us.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information to provide and improve our services.
Account information Identity
- Email address (used for account creation, login, and communication)

- Blood glucose readings you log or scan
- Diabetes type (Type 1, Type 2, Gestational, Pre-diabetic, or other status you select)
- Current medications and treatment information
- Dietary preferences and food restrictions
- Personal health goals (such as lowering HbA1c, weight management, or stable blood sugar)
Device & technical information Device
- Device push notification token (used to deliver medication reminders and alerts)
Permissions-based data Permissions
The App requests the following device permissions, each used solely for the stated purpose:
- Camera — Used to scan glucometer displays, food barcodes, and restaurant menus. Camera images are processed for the requested feature and are not retained beyond the scan unless you explicitly save the result.
- Location — Used to find nearby diabetes-friendly restaurants when you use that feature. Your precise location is processed only at the moment of the request and is not continuously tracked.
- Notifications — Used to deliver medication reminders, glucose check prompts, and other in-app alerts you have opted into.
You may revoke any of these permissions at any time through your device settings. Doing so may limit certain features of the App.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and operate the core features of the App, including glucose tracking, food scanning, restaurant recommendations, and medication management
- To personalize recommendations and insights based on your diabetes profile, goals, and preferences
- To deliver medication reminders and notifications you have opted into
- To authenticate your account and secure your data
- To improve the App's accuracy, performance, and user experience
- To respond to your support requests and inquiries
- To comply with legal obligations where applicable
We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes outside of communications you have specifically opted into.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.We share information only with the service providers below, and only to the extent necessary to operate the App.
Firebase (Google LLC)
We use Firebase services for user authentication and push notification delivery. When you create an account or receive a notification, the relevant data (such as your email address and device token) is processed through Firebase. Firebase's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Optional bot integrations
SnapSugar AI offers optional integration with messaging platforms such as Telegram and WhatsApp. If you choose to link your Telegram or WhatsApp account, we will share only the data necessary to deliver the integration features you request (such as glucose alerts or reminders). These integrations are entirely optional and can be disconnected at any time through the App settings. The handling of messages on those platforms is governed by their respective privacy policies.
Legal requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or other valid legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Data retention & deletion
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the services you have requested.
You may delete your data at any time through one of the following methods:
- In-app deletion — Open the App, go to Settings → Account → Delete My Data, and follow the prompts to remove your account and associated information.
- Email request — Send a deletion request to info@snapsugar.app from the email address associated with your account. We will process verified requests within 30 days.
Once deletion is complete, your personal data will be permanently removed from our active systems. Some information may be retained in encrypted backups for a limited period as part of our standard backup rotation, after which it will also be deleted. We may also retain limited information where required by law or for legitimate fraud prevention purposes.
Data security
We take the security of your health information seriously and implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect it, including:
- Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS / TLS
- Secure authentication through Firebase
- Restricted access to user data on a need-to-know basis
- Regular review of security practices and infrastructure
While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you in accordance with applicable law in the event of a data breach affecting your personal information.
Children's privacy
SnapSugar AI is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@snapsugar.app and we will promptly delete the information.
If you are between 13 and 18 years old, please use the App only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
